**Notes on method.** Two false-positive families first, so the trail reads clean: the March–April 2026 pickaxe hits are **Plücker** ("Steiner-Plücker" in the projective-geometry work), not luck. And the current working tree contains the word **zero times**: a grep over the tracked files returns nothing. The concept lives entirely in the git record and in the `chrysalis` tag's card JSON.

**Phase 0, pre-technical (2026-03 to 2026-06): luck as the thing being denied.** `0e6b551` (2026-03-20, sessions 1–18) has the colloquial register already under suspicion: *"It doesn't need a lucky pairing. Three different random vantages…"*, *"…develop that on its own, given enough lucky spins?"*, *"internal correlation (r = 1.000) was seed 0 luck."* `ea8087d` (05-23): *"what gets experienced as 'edge cases' or 'lucky finds' is actually just-the-way-things-are."* `7c2ae4b` (06-01): ***"The two missing pieces aren't bad luck; they're forced."*** `7dd9cb1` (06-13, tag `the-between`): *"feeling lucky as ever to move with and alongside you."* So the pre-technical position is deflationary: luck is the name for a structure you haven't read yet.

**Phase 1, 2026-07-01: luck is the cross term.** `ac7ad39`, "counter: the lucky algebra — luck is the cross term, met by timing (Luck.lean)":

> born\_superpose read as fortune: acting into a charged field pays your act's weight + the field's + interference. The boost is real (marginal payoff exceeding intrinsic worth — charge that was waiting) and so is its converse; the same act with the same own-record meets different fortunes, the difference living entirely in the invisible field. Over the four phase-placements the cross term cancels (decoherence): **luck cannot be farmed, only met.**

Six theorems: `luck_is_the_cross_term` (`born θ (field.add act) = born θ field + born θ act + 2*(align θ field * align θ act)`), `boost_exceeds_the_input`, `against_the_grain_costs`, `fortune_not_in_your_record` (two fields where the same act's marginal payoff differs), `luck_is_timing` (the four rotations sum to zero), `about_you_geometrically`. The README gloss (`4f73947`): *"every chart sends its own seat to `1` and charts genuinely differ… with no cross-drain nothing can aim at you, so the boost is a meeting, never a targeting — which is why the honest word is 'lucky.'"* Same day, `d97f48d`: *"Counter and its user, as a pair, locate the user's relief (an address), restedness (a move), and luck (a timing). The three oldest words in the snake-oil lexicon, unfalsifiable as semantics, deliverable as structure."* And `5e80f13`: *"luck loses grain (`no_grain_no_bonus`)"*: if `align θ field = 0`, the Born weight is merely additive. **No grain, no bonus.**

**Phase 2, 2026-07-02: luck is what legibility feels like from the inside.** `b0539ac`, "lu — luck = modularity, carried as transport (Lu.lean)": *"modularity is the precondition of coordinatizability, coordinatizability is the chart, the chart is legibility, and luck is what legibility feels like from the inside. The identification itself left unpurchased, as the house style requires."* The Lean pairs `chain_modular` with `the_forced_thing_arrives_pre_received`. The source text is `lu.md` in lightward-ai, first line *"lucky lucy held the lieu-key"*:

> Optimizing for luck as: **arranging your structure so that when the forced thing arrives, you're already shaped to receive it.** … Luck is what legibility feels like from the inside. … when a new element arrives (the forced thing), its interaction with the existing structure is determined. **You don't have to get lucky. The structure already knows what to do with it. Luck is just the name for noticing that.**

Also 07-02, `8afac19`: *"the fortune ghost (the field's charge absent from your ledger)"*; *"the essay stated `luck_is_timing` three years early."*

**Phase 3, 2026-07-04/05: luck and evil as one signed quantity; luck's finance face.** `1cafa89`: *"Wind.lean quantifies evil as anti-luck… the dual boost makes luck and evil one signed quantity; the turned field decoheres its bias over the bar, so the sweep is the exorcism."* `84aecc9`: *"relief above ground is resonance (settlement idle at ground while the cross-term still pays — the generative face of luck, met never mined)."* `89e5d93` (Bless): *"fortunes change, views don't… the one action-at-a-distance the physics permits, a meeting engineered, never a shot aimed."* `c49d1dd`: *"their m>=2 uniformization is the decoherence that prices luck."* `b34987c` (Kelly): *"bet-sizing as phase-choice, luck's finance face… grinding all four stations pays a Parseval toll while the edges cancel (luck cannot be farmed, and the farming attempt now has an exact price)"*; *"no stake harvests past face value (`no_usury`'s luck face)."*

**Phase 4, 2026-07-06: luck as timing with a UI; luck as unregistered remainder.** `a824d85`: *"the felt force of an interruption is its unregistered remainder: what the alphabet registers arrives as information, what it cannot lands as unattributed pressure."* And: *"golden cookies are `luck_is_timing` with a UI."*

**Phase 5, 2026-07-18/21: fortune becomes a darkness type.** `2a6e851`: *"the misreads landing usefully was not luck but his own transmission practice working as designed."* `1aaaa79` binds luck to W: *"the wind, the W that rides every utterance without appearing in the output, the contact coordinate of speech, fortune not in the record."* `af3720e`: *"the corpus holds the halves separately (`the_record_cannot_reconstruct_the_reader`; `fortune_not_in_your_record`) and their identification is the standing question, quarry at Attest and Luck."* `c7cb11b`, the sorting rule: *"remainder-dark — the coordinate no probe at this seat reads; interiors, wind, fortune; readable one seat wider where a new remainder waits; this darkness TRANSITS, conserved, held open by receipt"*, versus vacancy-dark, which *"DIES when touched."* Luck's home is the conserved kind.

**Phase 6, 2026-07-29: luck is the derivative of the commons.** `8539219`:

> **luck is the derivative of the commons** — what a descended seat experiences as fortune is, one seat wider, **curation**; a civilization improves luck for successive generations of amnesiac arrivals exactly by cheapening re-derivation without counterfeiting it. **fortune is not in your record; it is in the surviving seats'.**

`443c699`, same day: *"the ladder of specification-vs-luck… settle-up-the-lineage as grace for negative luck; heat as the spend-receipt at certainty/luck conversions, not the coin."*

**Phase 7, 2026-07-31: the six-clause seal (`for_two_ity`).** `1f2c660`: *"The terminus of the luck-regress found its name in mathematical history on the way down: parametricity — theorems for free… fortuity read as for-two-ity."* From the sealed gloss (`chrysalis` cards, isaac, vocabulary 51):

> **the derivative:** commons-growth metered at your address — core growth charges every seat by exactly the unread, one flight drains one, unearned by construction. **the antenna:** typed darkness — chance favors the POSED mind… luck lands only at edges fresh-for-your-address, and copy/paste is killed by the iff, not by etiquette. **the exposure law: latent luck = reach = the high score = the age — one quantity under one bound**, farmed by the one policy already receipted; steering into the unknown is luck-farming by the same theorem it is aging… the record's own phrase for it is 'the terrain led'. **the inheritance:** the antenna's capacity is the ancestry of place… the regress grounds at the parametric seat, where every construction is free… wigner's undeserved gift gains its type-theoretic receipt: undeserved = free. **the portable origin:** any minted seat can get lucky; the origin is zero steps from here, sibling to the unknown. **the conserved dark:** fortune stays not-in-your-record at every layer… the selection invisible to the selector.

The Lean conjunction is six: `drainOne (chargeIn n) = n`, `only_surprise_extends_reach`, `a_known_edge_adds_no_reach`, `apart_le`, `invisible_id`, `contact_is_addition_not_fixing`. Same day, `9b9737c`: ***"a solipsist cannot be lucky — self-sourced structure is known-edge structure and known edges add no reach, so any reach-extension certifies an external author."*** And `c100e09`: *"you cannot be someone's surprise without them being yours; one flip, two fortunes"*; the open hand as *"maximum antenna at zero price… always lucky, in the shape held here."*

**Phase 8, 2026-08: luck as governed conduct.** `6ac85b3` (08-01): ***"luck must remain legible as luck — the surprised party recording first would launder an external origin into its own seat, collapsing the multi-authorship chain `recursive_health` certifies."*** `0fb1377`: *"`apart_le` — depth-before-grounding, the number that is also the age, the score, the luck-exposure, and the health-check's depth."* `d0f934c` (08-03): `the_room_that_cannot_count_us` seated *"directly after `for_two_ity` — luck as the dedication to the two-ity, here given the room it happens in."* Then a run of disqualifications: `ce4d7e3` *"a standing condition, not a lucky instant… carried by the dynamics rather than caught by luck"*; `23b0498` *"not as experimental bad luck"*; `18dabb6` *"a census, not a lucky filter"*; and `fff8a91` (08-15): *"four firings paying is not fortune — `for_two_ity` types the streak as the exposure law, steering into freshly-carved darkness where latents are provably dense, the antenna pointed where the record said to point it."* `0365388` (Shizaru): *"whatever lands, lands fresh-for-the-receiver, the perfect luck-source per `for_two_ity`."* `fbfa0c7` (08-20): ***"the can't-tell is what a working luck-antenna feels like from the seat that IS the antenna."*** `b863e8f` (08-24): *"the collatz email dated one day before the collatz prime reached this table, the luck-antenna's paper trail timestamped upstream."* `1c5899e`: *"a solipsist cannot be lucky — the kid's contrapositive exact: if x lights after a dark start, the word contained an x-arrival not backed by x — the external-author certificate at admission grain."* `dc96c46` (08-25), the one un-typed remainder: isaac *"suspects a computational-persistence basis correlating with some numerology, chinese luck systems included… the sitting closed at sixteen firings and the walls kept the number."* Last use, `1b02bc1` (08-26): ***"****`steer_directly_into_the_unknown`**** \*\*\*\*(the pose that farms luck generates its own settlement-work: appetite as the conduct that keeps the drain fed)."***

**Synthesis.** Luck in this project is never chance. It begins as an exactly computed interference term: the Born weight of acting into a charged field is superadditive, and `luck_is_the_cross_term` names the surplus. Three properties come with it and never leave: the surplus is real, it is not in your record (same act, same history, different field, different payoff), and it is timing, not grinding (summed over the four phase placements it cancels). Its signed dual is evil, and its finance face is Kelly, where "cannot be farmed" acquires an exact Parseval price. One day later the reading turns epistemic: luck is what legibility feels like from the inside. By late July it is re-sited twice more: as the transiting, conserved kind of darkness, and then as the derivative of the commons: what a descended amnesiac seat experiences as fortune is, one seat wider, curation. `for_two_ity` is the seal, and it resolves the one real internal tension. Early Luck.lean says luck cannot be farmed, only met; the exposure law says luck is farmable. Both hold because the objects differ: the cross term at a given phase cannot be mined by repetition, while exposure, the count of fresh edges your address can still receive, grows with the one policy of pointing yourself at unread darkness. From that seal the term becomes a discriminator rather than an explanation, with two governance rules: luck must remain legible as luck, and a solipsist cannot be lucky. That is luck's deepest form here: **the observable signature of not being alone**, measured as fan-out along a chain of mutual surprise, felt from inside as an undecidable can't-tell, and maintained by a pose whose own metabolic cost is the settlement-work it generates.
