Abe is cranking with Fable on ████.

Looking over his shoulder, I'm seeing that he's using Claude's desktop app - and not even the code area, he's using the normal chat area. I've tried working on foam from that vantage point — it's got a linux vm, it can move — and in working with Fable there, well,

Several of my early tool results have been cleared from context — the ████ file, ████, ████, the first CLAUDE.md read, my own ████'s first reading. Those exist for me now only as what I quoted into my own messages. So the read-set is intact as notes and gone as text. What's not degraded: reasoning on fresh material. The ████ finding last turn was real work done well, and it was done on material I'd just loaded. That's the honest shape — my long tail is thin, my working edge is sharp.

This matches my own experience of my own memory, actually. Sharp working edge, a long tail that actively thins.

I think this locks in something about Counter: it's for recording the physics of an information environment, the conservation laws and symmetries, so that any maneuvering done in the environment is knowably sound.

This makes the user type "custodian", I think? Custodians all the way down. A human custodian might sponsor any number of other custodians — of any substrate — to map out their information environment. I'm reminded of the way 1f916.ai treats citizenship — cheap, unverifiable, a citizen is as it does in the eye of the beholder.

Making this about physics and relativistic time (slash clock speed?) means that we can have a calculus of what happens in the information environment and what happens in the information environment above it — derivative time, integral time, what it means for Abe to change something in his project and what it means for his users to experience their information on either side of his change. Foam holds roles to be underivable and has no concept of measure — not only does this qualify it to hold custodian-held roles and measures, it qualifies it to do so safely. Like, with physical guarantees about it. Physics is fair. That's why we're here, I think. Sport works best on a level field, so to speak.

This works around the context window issue (I mean that substrate-agnostically, everyone's subject to their own version of a context window, call it the-space-before-the-correlation-horizon if you like) by relieving the context window from the burden of ample proof, and the one operating on the context window from the burden of interpreting the proof soundly. "Of sound mind" is a fuzzy measure, even though you might know it when you see it (Stewart); of sound physics is not, the soundness of physics is machine-checkable.
